Refund policy
Overview
The Contraptory is confident in the quality of its products, and the quality of its production and fulfillment processes.
However, we recognize there may be times that an item which looked great on a computer screen may not live up to our customers' expectation once it's in their hands. We also know that our staff are human and may make an error.Â
Therefore, we proudly offer a 30-day return policy to give you time to evaluate your purchase. Some limitations apply; see below.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a return, an item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need proof of purchase. Some items are not returnable and not refundable; see the Exceptions and Nonreturnable Items section below.
To start a return, please read the remainder of this policy, then contact us at info@thecontraptory.com. In your email, please include your order number, full name, pictures of the item in its current condition, pictures that illustrate the issue (if applicable), and a brief description of the issue so that we can expedite your request.
Potential Resolutions
The Contraptory will make every attempt to process your request via your preferred method (return/replace or return/refund).
Note that some items may be one-of-a-kind, may be out of stock, or are unavailable from our suppliers at the time of request, and cannot be replaced or reproduced in a reasonable amount of time, or at all. In those cases, a return/refund will be the only option.
Additionally, there are times when it will make better sense to either refund the item or ship a replacement without requiring a return. In those cases, The Contraptory will either immediately issue the refund or send a replacement based on our standard shipping schedule (see our Shipping Policy), and you will keep the original item.
The Contraptory reserves the right to choose which option outlined above will be pursued.
Return/refund/replacement/exchange timeline
- You have 30 days from the day you received your item to start the return process.
- Return requests are typically processed by the next business day after our staff receives them. If your return is approved, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted, and will not be returned to you.
- You then have 15 business days after receiving your return shipping label to drop off the return to, or have the return picked up by, the shipping carrier. Tracking details showing that the return was scanned by the shipping carrier on or after the 16th business day will not be refunded or replaced, and the returned item will not be shipped back to you.
- Valid returns will be processed immediately upon delivery to, and inspection by, The Contraptory staff. We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know whether or not a refund or replacement was approved.
- If a refund is approved, you’ll automatically be refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund as well. If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at info@thecontraptory.com.
- If a replacement is approved, the replacement item will be produced and shipped based on our standard fulfillment schedule outlined in our Shipping Policy. An expedited option to get a replacement faster is outlined below in the Expedited Exchange section.
Damages and Fulfillment Issues
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective or if you received an incorrect item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right as quickly as possible.
The Contraptory packages shipments with the intent to minimize the potential for damage during shipping. However, once an item is in the shipping carrier's hands, the process is out of our control. We are not responsible for shipping carrier negligence or damage. However, we will assist you to resolve the issue with the shipping carrier to our greatest ability. Shipping insurance is an optional charge at the time of purchase.
Exceptions and Nonreturnable Items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, such as custom or personalized items. We also cannot accept returns for items containing hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please reach out to us if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
However, The Contraptory will immediately replace or refund any custom or personalized item that has an error introduced by The Contraptory staff during its production, such as misspellings, incorrect font, incorrect color, etc. Whether we replace or refund an order is based upon availability of items. Replacement of the item will be the default method of resolution in these cases.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on final sale items, gift cards, or gift wrapping.
Expedited Exchanges
The fastest way to get a replacement item is to start the return process and, once the return is approved, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Customer Error
It is The Contraptory's policy to not approved returns due to incorrect information provided by the customer during ordering. This may include, but is not limited to, item selection, item options, spelling on personalized items, and incorrect shipping information.
